Cathy Ballou Mealey loves picture books, scones, and sunny days. She is the author of the Sloth & Squirrel books from Kids Can Press including SLOTH & SQUIRREL IN A PICKLE (2021) and SLOTH & SQUIRREL ON VACATION (2025) as well as MAKE MORE S'MORES, published in 2023 by Sleeping Bear Books and WHEN A TREE GROWS released by Union Square / Sterling Books in 2019.

A former college instructor and administrator, Cathy holds a B.A. in Psychobiology and Classical Studies from Wellesley College and an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
